CitySprouts - Turning Urban Gardens into a Learning Experience

Our mission is to develop and maintain beautiful gardens as an educational resource for public schools.

We build our partner schools’ capacity to use gardens:
--as an instructional resource for teachers
--as a means of providing food and health education for students
--as a unifying center to strengthen communities and family involvement.

CitySprouts gardens inspire teachers, students, and families with a deep, hands-on connection to the food cycle, sustainable agriculture, and the natural environment.

And we work to set children on a path toward life-long healthy food choices.

Since 2001, CitySprouts has expanded to every elementary school in Cambridge Public Schools and schools in Boston as well.

Part of the emerging 21st-century school garden movement, we are evidence of the positive impact of garden-based learning.
