Columbia Ecovillage

We are an urban cohousing community in the Cully neighborhood of northeast Portland, Oregon, cultivating supportive relationships with each other, our community, and the Earth.

Our 37 homes, in five buildings on a 3.73-acre property, are condominiums, renovated in 2008 from a 1970s apartment complex for energy efficiency and healthy air quality.

We are a multigenerational community of adults and children. Adults include teachers, lawyers, healthcare providers and retired folks.

Here, we pursue our varied passions—from growing food and working on landscape projects to caring for our chickens and bees, cooking community meals, preserving our harvest, making music and participating in activities and causes in our neighborhood, city and beyond. Some of us are lifelong Oregonians, many are transplants from other states and countries.

In our 1912 farmhouse, we have guest rooms, a children’s room, meditation room, media room, kitchen, and living and dining rooms used for meetings and social events. We also have a dining/common hall with play room, a crafts/sewing room, workshop, laundry room, storage building, and tool shed.

We grow food for optional community meals from fruit and nut trees, rows of grapes, blackberries, raspberries and more. Most members also have an individual or shared garden plot.
