Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry accepts food donations

With Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry, companies, businesses and others can save food they would otherwise throw away. Our Food Rescue program ensures that products near their sell date or those with cosmetic blemishes are not discarded, but are routed to the people who need them most.

Passing on perfectly good food to people in need instead of sending it to the landfill is good news for us all: clients get nutritious foods, retailers pay less for refuse disposal, and the environment does not have to absorb the waste.

We've also launched a Home Delivery program to get food to housebound Seniors.

Last year we provided 15,000 families with emergency food plus access to vital hunger-relief services.

In 2015, our volunteers rescued nearly 137,000 pounds of produce and meat products—a value of $227,307.

We serve residents of 13 zip codes including portions of the city of Chicago (Austin, West Humboldt Park, Galewood) and most suburbs surrounding Oak Park.

Working together, we can end hunger—but we all have to help.
