Eat to Live – a learning farm and other food initiatives in Englewood

Eat to Live is building a healthy local food system at the intersection of Greater Grand Crossing & Englewood. We offer an incubator farm for urban farmers to learn, workshops, events and other food initiatives.

Our “menu” for a healthy local food system features:

SPACES TO GROW FOOD
• Two LEARNING GARDENS where community members can learn and grow. The Gardens donate produce to volunteers, neighbors, nearby seniors and a women’s shelter.
• Our INCUBATOR FARM where new urban farmers can launch their businesses, with up to 7000 SF of growing space planned inside season-extending hoophouses.

PROGRAMS
• Learn & Grow sessions in the Garden in spring, summer, and fall.
• Gardening, cooking, and urban ecology activities at local schools.
• Workshops with seniors and others.
• Community special events and tours.

E2L has also launched our AMP – alternative market project, a buying club bringing fruits and veggies into the neighborhood year-round.
We also help restaurants and stores carry produce grown by neighborhood farmers.

Please contact us to schedule a group work day, and check our schedule for Learn & Grow days and times.
