Slow Food: the international movement to make food better - Chicago Chapter

Slow Food's Chicago chapter offers a community garden, over 20 events a year, and provides workshops on local, sustainable food traditions. We strive to create a world in which all people can eat food that's good for them, good for the people who grow it and good for the planet.

ABOUT
The Slow Food movement started in Italy in 1986 as a grassroots response to the increasing industrialization of food and the standardization of taste. Today, Slow Food Chicago is one of the largest chapters of Slow Food USA, with more than 500 members and 5,000 supporters.

SUPPORT AN EVENT
We're always looking for support for our events, whether it's helping with promotion, taking photos, welcoming guests or other services. You can always expect to enjoy the event once your shift is over (which means your getting good food!).

VOLUNTEER AT THE preSERVE GARDEN
The preSERVE garden in North Lawndale relies entirely on volunteers.

TEACH A WORKSHOP
Have something you can teach the community? We are always looking for workshop teachers, hosts and locations.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
Got a skill? Chances are we need it!

BECOME A MEMBER
Membership provides the fire and funds that fuel our movement: the more members we have, the more influence we have, and the more work we’re able to accomplish.
