The Boston Impact Initiative - investing in our disfavored communities

The Boston Impact Initiative partners with businesses and organizations throughout our city to create systemic shifts in opportunities for communities that have been impacted by racial, social and economic inequality.

We seek to invest in organizations and initiatives—both for-profit and not-for-profit—that are committed to creating a better future for Boston’s youth and families.

BII seeks to take an integrated capital approach (combining investing, lending and giving) to putting money to work in our community.

Our tools include: loans, credit enhancements, equity investments, royalty finance, direct public offerings, crowd-funding, grants and more. That means sometimes we make grants to for-profit businesses, loans to non-profits, equity investments in cooperatives, and so on—all of which allows us to harness the power of private enterprise for public benefit.

Our ambition is to build a model that other investors can contribute to in Boston, as well as to share our learning with communities elsewhere.
