Lake Katherine Nature Center & Botanic Gardens, Offering Environmental Education and Wildlife Experience

Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens is an 85-acre public park consisting of gardens, woodland, wetlands, prairie and a 10-acre lake.

As part of our mission, we provide environmental education to nearly 5,000 grade-school students per year. This includes hands-on learning, close encounters with live animals and a variety of nature programs.

Our nature center features a menagerie of reptiles, animals and interesting books and exhibits for kids. We also have a children's play area located in the Children's Forest.

An estimated 100,000 people come to the park each year to hike, jog, walk their dogs or to simply enjoy the beauty of the gardens and the abundant opportunities to see wildlife.

In the warmer months Lake Katherine has canoes and kayaks to rent and our newly completed section of the Cal-Sag Trail provides a beautiful cycling route for nature lovers.
