Imani Village - a green community under development in Chicago's South Side

Imani Village, a project of Trinity United Church of Christ, is now being developed as a sustainable, mixed-use intergenerational community for renters. It's an eco-conscious enterprise supporting a community-based green economy, empowering the underserved and historically disenfranchised residents of the Pullman Community and surrounding neighborhoods.

With sustainable, modern design features, Imani Village will offer the first market-rate rental housing developed in decades on Chicago’s south side. Components include:

2 new buildings being constructed
60 units (1-3 bedrooms)
12 ground-floor commercial spaces

Imani Village is being developed as a sustainable "LEED neighborhood," following approved LEED guidelines for: a ) Smart Location and Linkages; b) Neighborhood Pattern and Design; and c) Green Infrastructure and Buildings.

We'll also have a 5-acre sustainable urban farm on a former brownfield. Products from the farm will supply the Healthy Food Hub/Public Market.

Imani Village represents a unique collaboration between the faith community, local government and business interests to provide a model for urban planning and development that delivers a sustainable green infrastructure, jobs and job training, healthy urban lifestyle alternatives and an optimized educational environment.
