At Ecology Action, our mission is to create a healthier environment in central Texas through resource recovery operations, brownfield remediation, and zero waste initiatives. You can visit our experiment in recycling contaminated and wasted land at Circle Acres.

CIRCLE ACRES

Circle Acres is Ecology Action's first experiment in recycling contaminated and wasted land into an ecological safe haven and a community resource.

Our goal is not to transform the past landfill into a space that the public would never imagine was once a hazard, but rather to aid its healing while constantly reminding visitors of the impact that our wastefulness and consumption can have on land.

THE CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE FUTURES

The Center for Sustainable Futures is the programming framework for Ecology Action’s educational, advocacy, and research activities on the site. It includes classrooms, demonstration areas, operations & maintenance support, art, and social spaces.

RECYCLING ADVOCACY

Ecology Action has pioneered the development of grassroots recycling solutions that eventually helped lead to programs like City of Austin curbside recycling, the Universal Recycling Ordinance, the Zero Waste Initiative, and the Recycling and Reuse Drop Off Center.
