Zenger Farm, a working urban farm

Zenger Farm is a working urban farm that models, promotes and educates about sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship, community development and access to good food for all.

We offer field trips, camps, education and more. Two of our programs:

Our Urban Farm Home School Program offers home-schooled students the opportunity to learn about food, farming and nature in a hands-on way. Students come to the farm weekly to explore the natural world from a scientific perspective, work on group projects and hands-on service learning, harvest, cook and eat garden snacks, and create nature-inspired art. They study the importance of healthy food, organic farming practices, wetland conservation, animal care, and environmental stewardship in our urban community.

Our Community Chef program celebrates the diverse food traditions represented in our neighborhood by supporting food leaders to share their knowledge and experience through teaching and sharing nourishing dishes from their country of origin. Currently, Community Chefs herald from El Salvador, Mexico, the Philippines, Bhutan and Nepal, and China.

Zenger Farm is a resource for the entire city of Portland, Metro Region and beyond.

Visits must be scheduled in advance.
