The Pilsen Environmental Rights and Reform Organization

PERRO is a grassroots group of Pilsen residents that formed to fight the disproportionate amount of pollution in our neighborhood. We believe all people have the right to live in a clean and healthy environment, regardless of their race and class.

PERRO’S GOALS
 Informing residents about the health dangers of pollution from all sources in Pilsen.
 Working with city departments, the EPA, and elected officials at the all levels to develop solutions for reducing pollution and making Pilsen a cleaner place to live, work and breathe.
 Achieving a significant reduction in pollution from industrial sources in Pilsen.
 Achieving this clean up without causing industrial jobs or business to be lost.

PERRO has worked with the City, EPA, Alderman Solis’ office and others to seek reductions in toxic emissions from H. Kramer Co. It is the second worst polluter in Pilsen, after Fisk Generating Station, the highest lead pollution point source in the city, 99th worst lead polluter in the nation.

If you have skills in writing, teaching, media, art, translation, web or graphic design, science, law, statistics or any other field, we can use your help. PERRO has several committees in which you can get involved.

We would welcome hearing from you.
