Walter S. Mander Foundation - Grants for Sustainable Food in Chicago

The Walter S. Mander Foundation provides grants to support local Chicagoland food sustainability programs, such as Forefront’s Mission Sustainability Initiative, Fresh Taste, Windy City Harvest, and Advocates for Urban Agriculture’s Ward Ambassador program.

The Mander Foundation makes grants primarily in five areas, all related to the interests of the late Mr. Mander.

Grants support:

-Work that advances the local foods movement in Chicago and Illinois, including reform of food production, processing and delivery structures.
-Urban agriculture and greening programs in Chicago that promote access to healthy food and provide job-related skills.
-Chicago community development, including programs that provide employment training, financial literacy, and job opportunities.
-Jewish and Israeli organizations and programs.
-Cancer research funding.
