Foundation Communities: green housing for low to middle incomes
Foundation Communities is a local, home-grown non-profit that provides affordable, eco-friendly and attractive homes to people in Austin and North Texas with low to moderate incomes. We invest in green initiatives to save on operating costs, reduce utility bills, protect the planet and make our communities better places to live.
GREEN BUILDING
Green strategies have earned us USGBC LEED Platinum and Austin Energy Green Building 5-star designations. For our older communities, we apply green practices from energy efficiency to onsite recycling.
GREEN ENERGY
We are the largest private solar owner in Austin.
GREEN EDUCATION
We teach our own nationally-recognized Saving Green curriculum as part of our adult education classes. At our Learning Centers, children learn green habits using the EcoSmarts after-school and summer school curriculum.
GREEN FINANCIAL STABILITY
Our residents save up to 75% on their utility bills each month, in addition to saving on transportation costs since we're near bus lines and train stations.
GREEN HEALTH
Residents work hard on vegetable gardens together and they benefit from easy access to local, nutritious produce.
We also provide free support services for families, veterans, seniors and individuals with disabilities.
