The Gates Family Foundation supports natural resource stewardship in Colorado

The Gates Family Foundation's Natural Resources program strategically partners with public and nonprofit groups in Colorado to support land conservation, promote water resource protection and management, build improved land trust capacity, encourage stewardship at scale, and demonstrate viable models of payment for ecosystem services.

From applicants, the Foundation expects evidence of strong support for projects from their communities, and applicant organizations should incorporate green building and sustainable development practices into their projects whenever possible.

Grant support is generally confined to organizations that provide services benefiting the state of Colorado and its citizens by addressing root problems with substantive solutions.
