Ocean Connectors, teaching children in San Diego and Mexico

Ocean Connectors was founded in 2007 to address environmental education in San Diego County, and over the years we have reached thousands of children here as well as in Mexico.

We work to spread awareness about the importance of protecting the habitat areas for migratory species. Knowledge exchanges, consisting of scientific communications between students in the U.S. and Mexico with art, letters, and videos, are used to illustrate the interconnectedness of the oceans and the importance of collaborative global stewardship.

We also create classroom activities, coastal field trips, bilingual knowledge exchanges, and STEM programs. To date, over 10,000 students have communicated conservation to their “pen-pals” living hundreds of miles away.

Our key issues include:
Wildlife & Habitat Conservation
Educational Attainment
Connecting Youth with Nature
Creating Real-World Scientific Skills
