An Eco-Art Contest for Ages 5 to 22

11/08/21

EarthX—"an international, nonprofit forum whose purpose is to educate and inspire people to action towards a more sustainable future"—has announced its third annual art contest for folks age 5 to 22.

Based in Dallas, EarthX invites submissions in "either 2-D or 3-D that illustrate the message: Plant the Seed. Contestants can use any medium or combination of media."

The group offers its own inspirational seeds:

Entries might "focus on the benefits of creating a rain garden to protect a watershed, a community garden to support an urban area, or regenerative farming to improve  water quality and fight climate change... [or on] planting a tree to combat deforestation, increase CO2 capture or habitat security for wildlife... The theme might also be interpreted figuratively, that taking action against any environmental problem can grow into sustainable solutions."

EarthX says its purpose is to "give students a voice in enviromental issues, whether local or global," along with "a platform to raise awareness about environmental issues [and to] move others to take action."

There are eight cash awards:

Ages 5-9:  1st Place-$250; 2nd Place-$125
Ages 10-13:  1st Place-$500; 2nd Place-$250
